School and Library Visits
Monique enjoys talking with children, teens, and adults about reading, writing, and race at schools and libraries. Don’t hesitate to reach out to Monique for programming, rates, and availability.
A typical full-day visit includes three 45-to-60 minute presentations, along with lunch with a small group of students.
School and library presentations are best suited for elementary and middle school students. Monique’s presentation focuses on her experience as a journalist, author, and mother of biracial children.
Don’t hesitate to ask questions about rates and workshop presentations. Monique encourages organizations to partner with Title 1 schools and community centers so that children of all socio-economic backgrounds benefit from author visits.
The most rewarding school visits happen when students are familiar with Monique’s work. She recommends teachers and librarians make copies of her work available to students prior to the presentation.
