I have worn a close-cropped beard for probably 20 years now. About 7 years ago (son age 8, daughter age 4), I decided on a whim to shave it off just to see/remember what I look like without it. I didn’t announce to my family that I was doing this. When I walked out of the bathroom, my son saw me first: “Daddy, you look like a robot. What did you do?” Then my daughter: “It looks ugly. Grow it back.” Reply Honeysmoke July 25, 2011 at 6:21 pm That’s what I love about children. They can and will be honest with you.
