Reply temple June 8, 2010 at 2:36 pm i want to add that as a child i had more than a few interactions with teachers that affected me in ways that a child isn’t equipped to handle. as an adult I can say that those teachers were unconsciously ignorant. still the outcome was that while the teacher got to remain blissfully ignorant of my particular american ethnicity, i–the child–had to learn to navigate their unexamined bias.
